According to a recent forecast released by eMarketer, online ad spending is predicted to be higher than print ad spending this year. In the U.S. alone, $32 billion was spent on online advertising in 2011. That number is predicted to increase to over $39 billion in 2012, partly due to the upcoming Presidential election and the Olympics in London. As digital newspaper ads in America continue to rise, print ad revenues continue to fall. This leads many to believe that going digital is the only smart option left for print newspaper and magazines in this troubled economy.
